Why should I become a Nurse?

Let’s take a walk to the memory lane and think; what was the most common gift you have received on your first ten birthdays? If you don’t remember then probably you can answer my second question. What is the most common gift you have ever gifted to kids between 5-10 years? In my case, it was always the ‘Doctor’s set’. Be it a girl or a boy, we always had at least one doctor’s set hidden amidst the pile of soft toys, board games, etc. But have you ever thought why?
From childhood, the very first profession we were exposed to is either a Nurse or Doctor.
Globally, nurses are always treated with utmost respect and admiration. This dignified profession comes with a lot of courage, hard work and perseverance. Even at the time of nationwide lockdown, nurses and doctors work round the clock to treat patients. Nevertheless, a nurse practitioner is one of the top ten professions in the world.
But the question is – Why should you become a nurse?
The answer for medical aspirants is quite direct; that is what they yearn to become from childhood. But after watching numerous documentaries and interviews on nurses and doctors, I figured out why being a nurse practitioner is among the top ten professions in the world.
Nurses around the globe get the highest salary after their internships and practical trainings. In many countries, nurses are always in the category of in-demand occupations. The requirement of nurses are so high that some countries accept immigrants with minimal nursing or medical experiences. The best part is that healthcare centres are willing to pay exorbitant amounts to entry-level nurses.
Secondly, no occupation could be as thrilling as being a nurse. Each day comes with surprises and new learning. Standing for hours in the OT, diagnosing illness in laboratories, reviving human parts in the ICU is absolutely no joke. It is challenging during double shifts and heart-whelming when lives are being saved. The divine blessings, compassion and encouragement from patient’s loved ones are breath-taking. Sometimes the feelings are reversed if patient fails to make it.
